Honest Review
The official strategy guide vol. 1has been a big part of my Elden Ring playthrough. I cannot count the number of times I’ve referenced looking through it to find out how to counter a boss I can’t beat or where to find the next upgrades items to get stronger. Not only that, but the artwork used in the book is jaw-dropping and makes me more inclined to use the book than to just use YouTube to find what I need to.
While there is a case to be made for just using YouTube for all the items and tips, but for me there is something about having the book and map (which is awesome) beside me when I’m playing and to reference that instead of my phone. It brings back a sense of nostalgia from an older era of gaming where not everything could be found on the internet. This is the ultimate companion to the game and a very nice collectors’ item to display on a bookshelf as the cover art is very striking and reminiscent of the game.
My only complaints with the guidebook are that it is very prone to fingerprints and the spine can detach from the hardcover of the book if you open the book all the way. While this may be trivial to some, however for someone who enjoys constantly using the book, opening the book multiple times in a gaming session does become a bit cumbersome as I do not want the spine to break.
