Honest Review

One of the greatest feelings about playing Assassin’s Creed Mirage is that unlike the previous three entries in the series (Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla), Mirage separates itself mostly from the RPG aspects of the newer games in that it brings back the more story driven, linear gameplay from the original games.

Don’t get me wrong, the newer games are amazing and are great to play for hours on end, but they never truly brought me back to the moments I remember when I played Assassin’s Creed II for the first time, that sense of adventure, narrative direction and the overall feel of the world. This condensed, story driven game is a refreshing piece of entertainment that easily allows the player to be immersed in the story and the world, not only is the story good, but do to its ‘on the rails’ approach it is easier to understand and playthrough without having to worry about how doing certain side missions ahead of others will affect the story and outcomes.

My only complaint with the game would be the in-game custscenes and animations. While I loved every second of the story, the weird and sometimes robotic facial expressions would take a slight bit away from the immersion. I hope that with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the next installment in the series, these issues are addressed. This is my one and only complaint about an overall amazing game!
