Red Dead Redemption 2

Overview:

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a western story driven game based on the end of an era. Outlaws are all but gone, but one group clings to a life of crime and debauchery. Red Dead Redemption 2 unlike its name is actually a prequel to Red Dead Redemption and it follows the Dutch Van Der Linde gang and there escape from the law after a robbery gone wrong.

You play as Arthur Morgan, a member of the gang whose tough outward exterior is nothing more than just a façade as he contemplates the life he has been leading and how it is slowly starting to change those around him.

Honest Review

Red Dead Redemption has always been my favorite game, and I am more than happy to say that the sequel, or in this case the prequel has easily taken over that spot. Rockstar has always made great games, but there is always something about the western era and the more grounded story that makes Red Dead Redemption 2 a step above the rest. From the almost photorealistic set pieces, an expansive open world (a living breathing one at that) and a great story, it is hard to top this masterpiece.

The character of Arthur Morgan is who the player choses him to be, but in terms of the story he is meant to be the charismatic character trapped in a life that he no longer wants to be a part of. He is, like I mentioned before, who the player chooses him to be, and that’s the great part – every interaction, and choice will affect the game, Arthur’s perception of the world around him and the perception of those that surround him. This game is not only considering every action, but also provides adequate and suitable reactions to the player, making the game world truly feel lived in.
