Overview:
Resident Evil 8, also known as Village, is the eighth mainstream installment in the Resident Evil franchise. The story continues after the events of the previous game in which Ethan Winters rescues his girlfriend from the horrors of a mold virus infected family deep in the swamps of Louisiana. This story takes place a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7, as Mia and Ethan have gotten married, had a child and left the United States.
Now living in a rural town their lives will once again be turned upside down after Ethan’s daughter is kidnapped by a cult and he is once again forced into action to save the ones that he loves. This time, however, he is more prepared and will do whatever it takes to make sure that no harm comes to his daughter.

Honest Review
Resident Evil 8 Village is action packed, story driven and an overall great time. The atmosphere is hands down one of the best in the series, seeing the various locations for the first time makes you feel like you’re playing Resident Evil 4 and to be honest there are quite a few similarities between the two games and that is not a bad thing. Resident Evil 8 is structured similarly to Resident Evil 4 where you are rescuing someone from the clutches of a cult, it differs only in the horrors both characters come to face.
Resident Evil 8, like 7, continues to use the first-person approach to gameplay, and this is great in helping further establish the atmosphere and dread as you cannot always see the threats that may be lurking around the corner. While Resident Evil 7 went back to its roots in the horror genre, 8 takes a step back into the more action focused gameplay and for this game’s story and influence, it is the right course of action. While I do miss the jumpscares (there are a few scary sections) and the survival feeling of the previous game, it does go to show how much the character Ethan has changed since the event so the first game, he is no longer scared and frightened, but is charging headfirst into danger and possibly death to save his daughter.
I love Resident Evil, and Village is no exception and while I cannot wait for the next entry in the series, I do hope they add some more enemy variety as it does become a bit mundane taking out the same enemy variant endlessly.
