God of War Ragnarök

Overview:

God of War Ragnarök is the sequel to 2018’s God of War reboot from developers Santa Monica Studios. God of War Ragnarök takes place a few years after the events of the original game where Fimbulwinter has begun and the end of the world as we know it is drawing closer.

Throughout the story Kratos and Atreus will need to deepen their trust in each other as well as some unlikely allies and enemies in order to overcome the many Norse gods and monsters who stand in their way and wish to separate them. With amazing visuals, a griping narrative and awesome and brutal gameplay mechanics, God of War Ragnarök is the perfect sequel and a great end to Kratos’ Norse saga.

Honest Review

God of War Ragnarök must be one of the best sequels I have ever played, it takes everything the first game did well and turns it up to 11. The boss battles, the narrative, the gameplay, it is all meticulously done and blended perfectly together. Not once did I think twice about the hordes of enemies in my path, I truly felt like Kratos, taking my anger out on enemies and bosses by brutally taking them apart with the blades of chaos and the leviathan axe. My one and only complaint is one section of the game (no spoilers) where the sequence seemed to drag on for far too long, and while integral to the story I do wish it had been shorter because once it was done I couldn’t wait to get back to ripping apart Draugar.

God of War Ragnarök serves as the best ending for Kratos and the respective Norse saga, will there be another game, 100% and for those interested in more God of War after the end of Ragnarök, Santa Monica Studios has released a free DLC for Kratos which is actually pretty substantial content and in a day an age when every piece of content comes at a steep price to the consumer, its nice to see developers support their games with free and great content to keep users engaged.

The main draw of God of War Ragnarök, or God of War in general is the brutal combat. And it is safe to say the Ragnarök does not disappoint. It adds more verticality and traversal into the core combat loop and adds some brutal executions for all enemy types (Yes, there are more than just trolls this time around).
